What games should you look out for at the Nairobi National park?

 

A lot of parks exist in the Eastern Africa, precisely in Kenya. One of such top parks is the Nairobi National park. The park is located in Kenya, and was established in 1946 about 7km (4.3mi) South of Nairobi.


It has a three sided fence, whereas the open sided boundry allows migrating wildlives to move between the park and adjacent kilengela plains.


Talking about wildlives, alot of wildlives and herbivores gather at the park during the dry season. There are varieties of wildlives and herbivores you should be on the look out for when you are at the Nairobi National park. Majority of this games includes;


1.African Buffalo




The African buffalo, commonly called " cape Buffalo", is an African bovine. At the Nairobi National park, it is easy and usual to sight this game. The best times to go watch cape buffalos are during the dry season period, since they come out to seek for water.


It is advisable that you watch from afar as they are dangerous herbivores that fight and kill human alot.


2.Cheetah




The Cheetah is a large cat, native to Africa and central iran. The Cheetah has been recorded to be the fastest kind of animal, capable of running at 80-125km/h, and as such has several adaptations for speed, including a light build, long thin legs and a long tail.


The best time to go watch for Cheetah, is when the vegetation is dry. So, October - November is perfect to visit the Nairobi National park for Cheetah watching.


3.Lion




The lion belongs to the family felidae  and a member of the genus panthera. It has a muscular, deep-chested body, short, rounded head, round ears, and a hairy tuft at the end of its tail. It runs as fast as 80km/h . You should be guided before you go for lion watching.


4.The black Rhinoceros.




The black Rhinoceros, also known as the hook- lipped rhinoceros, is a species of rhinoceros, native to Eastern and Southern Africa. 


The black rhinoceros, although regarded as such, but its colours varies from brown to grey. The big game can easily be spotted during the dry seasons at night. It can also be seen when they come down to drink at the waterholes.


5.Hippopotamus.




The hippo or river hippopotamus, is a large, herbivores, semi-aquatic mammal and unguoate native to sub-saharan Africa.


It is one of the only extant species in the family "Hippopotamidae". Its running speed is about 30km/h. The hippos are readily available during the rainy season. They are water lovers. So during the day, you can see them gatter together to drink water . When at the Nairobi National park, you can go to see the hippos slosh.


6.The massai giraffe




Massai giraffe is sometimes called the Kilimanjaro giraffe. It is the largest subspecies of giraffe. It is predominantly found in East Africa, and Nairobi National park is a place where this game is common to spot. The best period to go for this spotting, is between April through September.


7.Impala.




Impala is a medium-sized antelope found in eastern Africa. The Impala is commonly seen at this park. Its running speed is 75-90km/h. It runs in a zig-zag direction.


There are 2 species of this kind. The common impala, and the larger and dark black-faced Impala. The Impala reaches 70-72 centimeters at the shoulder and weighs 40-76kg (88-168Lb). It features glossy, reddish brown coat. 


At the park, it is easier to spot the Impala because, study revealed that time spent in foraging reaches a maximum of 75.5% of the day in the late dry season. They are mainly active in the day though. Spotting this game at the Nairobi National park is easier than you think.


8.Gazelle




Gazelle is any of many antelope species in the genius " Gazella." A third former subgenus, procepra, includes three living species of Asian gazelles. Gazelles are some swift animals because, they can run as fast as 100km/h. Go spot then at the park during wet seasons when the grasses are abundant.


9.Grant's Zebra.




This is one of the subspecies of the plains zebra. Zebras are naturally designed with vertical and horizontal stripes which makes them beautiful. You can't afford to miss seeing this game at the park.


10.Common Eland.




The common eland, also known as the eland antelope, is a savannah and plains antelope found in East and southern Africa. It is a species of the family Bovidae and genus Taurotragus.


The elands are commonly active in the morning and late afternoon, during wet season. The eland is a wonderful specie that you need to see while at the Nairobi National park.
